Any suggestions on what makeup to use?

Postby andy » Wed Aug 11, 2010 10:30 pm

I have never been one to wear makeup (unless my friends have done it for me, they always ask me if they can do my makeup). I am thinking of getting into using a little every once in a while but I am not sure what exactly I should use. I know eye shadow, mascara, and blush are the easiest things I can figure out what to use but the rest as far as foundation, concealer, and powder I am not sure what to use.

My skin tends to be a little oily so I'm not sure if I need to go with mineral for more natural less pore clogging products. I also would like to know what products are best to use to not cause breakouts. I’m not one to breakout a lot but every once in a while I will a little. Basically I am wondering if anyone has advice on what the best products are to use. There are so many to choose from and it is very confusing lol.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

You should just look for a powder foundation that matches your skintone. I like Clinique Superpowder Double Face Makeup, personally. It sounds like you've been doing fine without liquid foundation and concealer, so why bother? I'm 30 and I've never needed concealer in my life. If you have very dark circles, you just look for one a bit lighter than your skin, put a few dots of concealer under your eyes, and gently blend, then use your foundation or powder. You probably don't need blush, either. It looks pretty stupid on a lot of people, even though they don't know that.
Personally, I find mineral products to look kind of weird on my more oily areas, but that might not be true for you.
You may want to go to a Clinique counter and explain that you don't want a 357-step routine, and ask what they'd recommend for your skin type.
Don't be afraid to ask to sample things and return stuff that you don't like.
