Are liquid baby soaps effective?

My son is almost 2 and a half yrs old and he has a very sensitive skin. Whether it b winter or summer, his skin dries up.So to avoid that, i apply baby body lotion all over his body after bath, but recently due to much cooler climate, his skin still drying up, so i thought of changing the soap to a much milder liquid body soap. Now his skin is not getting chapped up, but i just observed like is it effective? Its not able to remove all the dirt, its like making his skin look dull...what do you use for your kids? do they have any dryness? what shud i use 4 my son?

Try a liquid body wash, instead of soap, with a moisturizer in it. Dove body wash works pretty well, with the moisturizer in it, to prevent drying. Use as little as you can. Plus, bathe him only every 2 or 3 days. In between baths, just wash hands, face and diaper area. Also, keep the water a little on the cool side, about room temperature. Warmer water dries skin. Then moisturize while his skin is still wet, and do it once more during the day too.

Bathing more often actually strips the skin of its natural oils and causes dryness. Small children, unless they get extremely messy on a given day, don't need a bath daily. In truth, adults usually don't either. As I said, cleaning the diaper area daily, as well as hands and face, should be sufficient in between baths. Ask your son's pediatrician if you are unsure.

My son is almost 3 and he is a very sensitive skinned little boy, too. I use regular soaps, though, like Huggies or Little Einsteins, I think it's called. I tried using the Dove no scented soap and since it didn't lather, I didn't think it worked as well. I just try to use lotion more, in order to keep him from drying out so badly.
