Men and women, what soaps and cleansers do you use?

I use Avon body wash, and either Herbal Essences or John Frieda shampoo and conditioner (I can get the John Frieda stuff dirt cheap at the Dollarama). On my face, I use Aloette products: cleanser, scrub, toner, a really lovely aloe spray, and moisturizer. I use hand soaps of all kinds on my hands, but nowhere else. I have sensitive skin so I have to be careful what I use.If I use bar soap in the shower my skin will be super dry. If I get conditioner on my scalp I'll get acne in my hair. If I use the wrong product on my face, I get a breakout or it will get dry and flakey and blotchy.

Whereas my husband will sometimes wash his hair and body with a bar of soap. At most, he uses a two-in-one shampoo on his hair and bar soap everywhere else. It boggles the mind. lol

I think that a lot of men have dry skin and other skin problems too, but they're less inclined to reach for a bottle of lotion because they think it's girly, and it isn't enough of an irritation for them to want to do anything about it.

Dr. Bronner's Liquid Soap in Rose or Peppermint, for everything, head to toe.

Lush or shikai hair products when I feel like dealing with long hair and plain aloe vera gel to wash my face if my skin feels dry. Dial deodorant soap in a natural fiber exfoliating thing, to scrub my feet if I've been hiking or walking, and...that's about it. Facial moisturizers, but I can't find one I like;.

I use Neutrogenia and Cetaphil for face and body. Moisture Therapy (from AVON) as a body moisturizer, different strengths depending on season.

For hair I use Ion or Chi products (beauty supply stores). I tend to switch days when using hair products to prevent buildup.

I use Noxema, Cetaphil, and sometimes OXY for my skin. They all work very well on my body.

Hands: liquid soap, antibacterial in the kitchen, moisturizing in the bathrooms. (I've heard that using antibacterial soap all the time can be harmful to your health, but I forget exactly why. Something about removing the healthy bacteria from your skin and allowing the bad bacteria to flourish.)

Face: AM: Avon foaming cleanser with salicyllic acid.
PM: Noxema (does a good job of getting rid of make-up and oil).

Body: Ivoy bar soap all over. Sometimes I'll use a body wash from Avon.

Hair: Avon Moisure Sleek shampoo; Avon color protectant conditioner alternated with the Feria conditioner that's left over from coloring my hair.

When I was married, my hubby used Head and Shoulders for his hair, and some sort of manly-scented bar soap for everything else. He couldn't understand why I needed so many different products.

And we won't even talk about how many different moisturizers I use for various body parts, lol!

I just use whatever liquid soap is on sale that week, I don't like soap bars.

A simple bar of soap does it all. There is beauty in simplicity. Not to mention it is easier. And I don't want to smell of lavender, or some other genteel scent.

I use only Japanese skincare products, my favorite brand is Shiseido.

I always used to wonder why Asian women had such great skin... they use superior skincare products, they start taking care of their skin from a young age and they use sunscreen diligently. My life changed after using Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection SPF 55 sunscreen. I have very pale skin that burns easily, so I need to use a high SPF sunscreen, but my skin is also oily. So if I were to use a greasy SPF 1,000 sunscreen, my skin would be very oily and clogged, but if I didn't use it, I would burn within minutes outside on a sunny day. The Shiseido sunscreen is high SPF, and it feels great on my skin, smooth and even mattifying.

I have read that the average woman in Japan uses 7 different skincare products/treatments daily. I'm not sure how true this is, but in my experience, Japanese skincare lines do promote several products all at once, which are meant to be used all at once. I don't go that far with it, but I do try to take care of my skin.

I don't use fancy or expensive products for my body, the best thing is to exfoliate very aggressively every 3-4 weeks (to the point where your skin is red), exfoliate more mildly on a daily basis, use collagen-based lotion and 100% pure aloe vera gel (from the health food store). The aloe vera gel is amazing.... my skin is as smooth as a baby's a**. This routine has worked so well for me, that I think it's removed cellulite and stretch marks. I'm sure that I still have cellulite and stretch marks, but they've become a lot less visible.

I use Irish Spring/Nivea for my hands, and I buy all my haircare products from the drugstore, I use Aveeno and John Frieda Brilliant Brunette products on a daily basis.
