Men and women, what soaps and cleansers do you use?

Postby edwardson » Fri Aug 13, 2010 8:50 pm

Is it typical for women to use separate cleansers for their body, face, and hands, and for men to use simple bar soap for everything? Do men who use various such products do so only because it's what their SO uses?

Uses
Dr. Bonner's Liquid Soap in Lavender, Citrus, or Tea Tree as a body wash
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser for my hands, except when I use
Lava for hand soap since I've been learning automotive
Mastey, Dermorganic, and Zeal shampoos and conditioners, which I actually use for my face as well since they are based on sulfate free cleansers first developed as facial cleansers

I am especially careful about hygiene and use probably more than most men. I use different types of shampoo, usually something that's on sale... But for body wash, I really like the Gillette one for men (I think it's gillette) plus Dove soap. I really like Dove soap because I've found that it doesn't dry my skin out nearly as much as other kinds in the winder time.

I really am very hardcore into keeping clean and often shower twice a day, certainly after a workout and use a lot of body wash and Dove soap. I have this special japanese body scrubber that I really like which I've been a fan of for years. I also wash my hands compulsively during the day and use the waterless alcohol-based hand cleaners whenever I can lest I come in contact with germs.

I use bar soap or body wash for my body, and shampoo for my hair. I also shave using bar soap.

I get whatever brand is on sale.

Also, I am completely depressed about "Dove for men". I thought one of the cool things about being a man is we didn't think we needed any special soap just for us. Now I can't even been happy about that...so what's next, a toilet paper for men? A special man toothpaste because men's tooth decay is different from women's?

I have Pears clear soap in the bathroom, for when I need to wash my hands, but I use Dove soap for washing my face. Then I have Radox liquid soap in the kitchen, which I use to wash my hands before I cook. I use any shower gel really, but not the creamy ones, because although they claim to be moisturising, they actually dry my skin out. And I use neutrogena volumising shampoo, which is quite hard to get hold of so I buy it in bulk online. I try a different conditioner every time i buy it, I dont think ive ever used the same one twice.

I actually bathe with the same soap I wash my face with, Aveeno clear complexion soap. It doesn't have much of a scent and keeps my skin clear and healthy looking. I have the oiliest skin of anyone in the world. Really.

Yes, that's pretty typical.

I pretty much use bar soap in the shower and gel or liquid soap at the sink.

My wife has separate cleansers for her face, hands, and body. Plus various moisturizers and lotions for her face and hands, and sunscreen for the summer. Separate shampoos and conditioners and treatments for her hair also.

After she takes a shower, the entire bathroom smells like a botanical garden. It would actually be quite therapeutic if it didn't take her two hours to get ready to go out.

? Don't let the days go by... GLYCERINE (Soap) ?

I use the glycerin soap as a shampoo as well.

Works wonders for skin conditions and dandruff.
