MY HAIR IS VERY THIN. IT USED TO BE THICK. HELP!?

Postby omar » Wed Aug 11, 2010 5:44 am

I'm 16 years old and I used to have very thick hair. I know its not good for your hair if you wash it every single day because all the nutrients get washed out of it so i wash it every other day. For about the last year I have been loosing a lot of hair. I know its been cold and its normal for your hair to fall out a little during winter but mine has been falling out significantly. I don't understand why it's been falling out so much. I'm stressing a little about school but not enough I don't think to have my hair thin out about 1.5/3 ...also I do straighten my hair out and I have to blow dry it every single time I wash it because my doctor ordered me to do so. Any suggestions as to how I can get my hair back to the way it was or close to the way it was. Any of you especially hairdressers or anybody who has had to deal with this please tell me what you did and what products you have used. I can't afford to buy anything too expensive. Thanks for your help(:

well hair changes its texture every 7 years so this could be just a natural thing or you could be deficient in vitamins and that is why its falling out so in my opinion i would add more vegetables and fruits to my diet to see if that helps but if that doesnt work i would get a blood test to see if there is anything physically wrong with you, stress can also do this to your hair too. but as far as fixing it goes... use heat only when you have to and when you dont need to style your hair put it in a braid so there is no damage being done to it(this also helps it grow faster) and they also sell shampoos that help your hair grow so the next time you go to the hair dresser just ask them if they can order sothing along those lines for you! good luck!

Well using excessive heat really thins out your hair, that is why mine is thinned out now. I don't understand why a doctor would know about hair care in the first place though. You need to go to a dermatologist to check this out as it can be alopecia to a thyroid disease. But lay off the heat, as that is one of the reasons why my hair is thinned that and chemical straightening. Also, pay attention to where your hair is coming out. If you mean the whole hair strand with the white bulb on the end and it comes out in clumps yeah you have a problem. If it is the hair strand breaking off then it came be damgage from washing, dying, heat, etc. Remember, humans shed 100 hairs per day so some of it may be normal.
