You need to take it every day at the same time every day for it to be effective. When girls first start taking it it may take their bodies a couple of weeks before they are protected. You can take an early pregnancy test 5 days before your missed period .....it would be very rare that the clinic test was wrong.

take one asap. this will not ensure no pregnancy, but it will help. then start taking the pills as you normally would. if you can, get the morning after pill. do not wait a week, or two days for that matter. take one asap.

I'm currently taking amoxicillin for strep. I started taking it after I got my period on Wednesday. Now, I'm wondering if since I took it during the placebo week, will it lessen the effects of my new birth control pack that I start tomorrow?

I highly doubt you are pregnant. Depo does some strange things to your body, including making you think you are pregnant. I was on depo for 2 years and in the time I never got a period. Your risk is negligible. You can miss up to 3 days of pills as long as you immediately make it up weh you realize it. Also, with condoms you are still 99%+ safe.
