Earthy scents? My favourites are mud, peat moss and potting mix!

Well, I'm not sure whether you got two bad bottles of patchouli or not - I personally cannot stand the smell of it I find it far too strong and cloying. However, I'm pretty sure The Body Shop still do a really good range of perfumed oils. They're not 'essential oils' as such but lack the chemicals that you get in other perfumes. 'White musk' was quite a popular one and I think I remember one called 'cinnabar' that was quite spicy, they also did patchouli.

I think I did, cause it just does not smell like I remembered! I've never found it cloying though, interesting. Thanks!

Oh, carp! I just typed out this whole long response and it disappeared on me! I love anything that is a little woodsy and or musky. A little amber, tea rose, sandalwood, apricot and vanilla is wonderful. Another one is cherry blossoms, vanilla, and mimosa petals with a bit of sandalwood or patchouli. I think you could add just a tiny bit of cedar to either of those and it would smell good, too. As for the fragrance I like on a man, anything woodsy with a little musk of some kind.
