Most of the cheaper Walmart-type hair products contain a lot of wax and other junk. It may be making your hair look smoother, but that's only because the wax is weighing your hair down. It's not really doing anything to improve your hair's health.

There are quite a few quality salon brands that will help your hair. Redken's Extreme line works really well to help rebuild and reconstruct your hair. Joico's K-Pak line will do the same thing. Brocato's Cloud 9 Miracle is another line that will help rebuild and reconstruct the hair. I've used all 3 of these lines myself, and all of them are excellent products that will definitely make a noticeable difference in your hair within a few weeks.

All these products are more costly, but with hair products you get what you pay for. And you'll find that you're actually having to use less shampoo and conditioner each time you wash with the better quality products. They are much more concentrated than the cheaper products that usually have a lot of water and junk in them. So your hair products will actually last longer, which kind of helps to balance out the higher price you have to pay for them.
