Because they can't see all around their head and might miss spots. Or else they're doing it during work hours.

You may miss spots, however people still do since money is tight right now.
My stylist even colors her own hair, and honestly it looks a lot better than some of the girls that work there.

They are..? I don't think they are told that...But in the long run, It's harder to do yourself. You can end up with spots, and just not covering it all.
