Why did they laugh at me for this?

I normally use either Brut deodorant or Right Guard. When some the other guys in my foster home about 3 years ago saw this, they laughed and told me I should use Axe. Why do you think they would laugh at me for my choice in deodorant.

Brut and Right Guard are old deodorants (they were popular when I was in high school which was 40 years ago) and your housemates were laughing that you used such old time stuff instead of the new Axe. They have bought into commericialism and mindlessly follow the crowd. You can switch to Axe, or you can simply tell them "hey, be glad I use any deodorant at all!" and let them think about that. You can also tell them you save money buying Brut so you can spend more money on your girlfriends who seem to love the way you smell.

They laughed at you for that because they could make you feel bad by doing so, and if they hadn't laughed at you for that, then they would have laughed at you for something else, because the point of the whole thing was NOT the deodorant, it was just to make you feel bad, that's all.

Now that you know that they're like that, either avoid them or, if you can't, then "shoot first and ask questions later," as they say and start making fun of them for any old thing before they can even open their mouths, because, believe me, when it comes to making fun of someone, you have to strike first, or you lose!

Like, the minute you see one of them, before he can even open his mouth, say, "Where in the world did you get that HIDEOUS shirt? Wow!" Then he's on the defensive. Otherwise, he'll do it to you first, so go for it.

Good luck!

that was probably the opinion of only one of the individuals in the group of laughing boys. the others probably looked up to this individual for some reason and so they agreed with him. they probably dont care what kind of deodorant you use. my brother uses Right Guard.

Its just a shallow cliquey thing. They probably all use that brand and think its 'cool'
In a coupla years they will probably all change deodorants anyway.
