Because, health is something people cannot control.. My GF has had 3 surgeries in past but tries to stay as healthy as possible. She still has to pay RIDICULOUSLY high insurance rates.

AND it is not fair to others who are healthy, nor is it fair to the company to have to pay extra for her... I understand this. That is why profiting businesses should not control this.

If the government has at least some sort of program, it can balance this out... Expensive, yeah, but moral. I would willingly give a charity tax of like 20 dollars a year to support this. Health insurance will not be as good and people will not be able to get their ******* teeth whitened on the insurance paycheck, but it will at least give good people with medical pasts that are not their fault at all a fair chance at fair coverage...

Peoples' lives' and wellbeing should not be controlled by business and profit margins... lol

I live in Canada, where we have universal health insurance. Yep,
I can walk into any hospital in the country and they can not refuse me service. Even if you walked into a Canadian hospital, they would take care of you. I don't use our medical system much at all, and prefer to be healthy and fit, but I don't mind paying for others either, because one day, when/if I need it,
it will be there for me, and it won't cause me to go into bankruptcy.

The Canadian health system works real well, most people criticize it but really don't understand,... it is the best

ok firstly this country cannot afford to give health care to everyone, there are 37 million people without health care and that's too bad for them, and it will be far greater than your charitable tax of 20 a year, i dont want the government to regulate our health care, they can deny you treatment if your overweight or live an unhealthy life style, what exactly is an unhealthy lifestyle, look at all the problems with universal care in Canada and the UK, its nonsense. sorry for your girlfriend but shes considered high risk, its just like auto insurance if you get in crashes or are given tickets, your premiums go up, that how things work,

No, universal healthcare is not a solution. Have you noticed that anything under government control goes up in price? Like health costs, like military costs? Read up on market based solutions on the website of a congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul.
